What will a website do for my business?
What is web hosting?
How much will a website cost?
How long does building a website take?
Can I maintain my own website or will you maintain it for me?
I already have a website but I want to improve it, can you help?
I do not live in your area; can I still work with Doorway Digital?
I already have a site that I'm happy with, but the programs you've mentioned sound great to me. I need a guestbook (or invoicing system, or shopping cart, or inventory system...) on my site. Can I just purchase that script?
Why should I choose Doorway Digital?
How do we get started?
What will a website do for my business?
The real question here is, "What is the purpose of my website?"
You might need to promote your business, or sell a product.
Websites are incredibly cost-effective ways to exchange information.
We can set up your site to accept credit card orders online, and make it easy for search engines to find.
One thing that Doorway Digital specializes in is creating online databases that our clients can maintain very easily -
so your inventory can always be accessible and current. This type of database can also be used to create and maintain mailing lists,
shopping carts, invoicing systems, guestbooks - the possibilities are unlimited.
What is web hosting?
Your website is comprised of files - text and images - which can be stored anywhere, on any computer.
For other people to see your website, these files must be kept on a computer that is always connected to the internet.
This computer is referred to as a server, and the company that owns the server acts as your web host.
How much will a website cost?
This varies from site to site. It all depends on the amount of content, design, and programming involved.
Doorway Digital works at a rate of $85 per hour, with negotiable rates for non-profits. We are happy to provide quick estimates for simple sites, and free proposals for larger projects. You can contact us by phone at 617.460.6838, or via email at jeremy@doorwaydigital.com.
How long does building a website take?
Anywhere from a week to a couple of months, depending on the size and complexity of the website.
Another thing that decides the speed with which we get your site online is how you get materials to us.
If you have the content - that is, the text for your website - ready, and if you have images already scanned,
some of the initial work time can be eliminated.

Can I maintain my own website or will you maintain it for me?
Whatever best suits your particular site is the best answer here. We are happy to maintain websites,
and we can also create a site so that you will be able to maintain it yourself. Sometimes the best idea
is a combination of the two - you need to update a calendar, inventory, menu, listing, etc, every few days,
but you don't want to do extensive work on the rest of the site yourself. We can create mini-programs as part
of your website which will allow you to update information as you would fill in a form on the net.
You can have a secure login screen that allow authorized users access to a webpage where you can enter
new information with the click of a button. Please take a look at our Programming Samples page to see examples of this.
The idea here is that you pay once for a tool that allows you to update these parts of your site easily, indefinitely.
This will save you time and money. For a major site overhaul or a change in themes (colors, graphics),
you can again hire a development company.
Why should I choose Doorway Digital?
Doorway Digital is a perfect match for web development.
